The thing I love about Halloween is seeing all the costumes at parties. But honestly why must half the girls at this University dress as complete sluts? Not only does our age group dress like that, but I was looking in a catalog for costumes and even the little girls costumes are ridiculously slutty. Why does an 8 year old need to be showing her stomach in her costume? Ahh what is the world coming to? I would love to see a girl in a crazy creative costume that actually covers more than 1/4 of her body.
It was funny the other day my friend bought a costume and I asked her if she was being a slut too like everyone on campus and she goes oh yeah you know it and whips out a nuns costume. She jokingly said she was going to be a slutty nun and I busted out laughing. See why can't more girls be nuns?

Bad Day
Do you ever get those days when you would rather go home, crawl back in bed and not wake up for a few days? Yeah that's how this one was for me. It all started when I found out that my old friend back home called me. I was excited about the phone call because I haven't talked to him in a few months and this was his news...he dropped out of school, broke up with his old girlfriend, is now dating at 24 year old women who has a kid, and they are moving in together on Monday. Umm WOW! That's all I have to say to that. Then I go on facebook before I had to leave for work and I get a message from the ex boyfriend complaining about everything. Like how many times does it take until it sinks into their brains? WE ARE OVER! lol seriously! Then of course I have a butt load of homework this week on top of everything, but the only good thing about this week is A.Greys Anatomy, B. The Office, C. I get to go home on Friday for the first time this semester!

Funny moments
OK so I just have to share this with you all because I laughed so hard at myself. So lets get one thing straight before I share my story with you...me and my bike DO NOT get along. I seriously ride this piece of crap everyday because I have class on west bank and i hate walking the 2 miles to get there. So one day I'm riding along and my pedals just get stuck and I cant do anything! They had rusted so there was no more peddling for me! I did the whole skateboarder trick and went to class that way, lol! Then the other day I was talking to my friend on my phone and I was just sitting on my bike not moving when all of a sudden gravity shifted I swear and I completely took a digger! Not only was that embarrassing enough this guy comes running up to me and is like "whoa are you OK?" I was just like ummm yeah and got on my bike laughing and rode off to work. Now you think this would be it for the bike stories...WRONG. The other morning I was running late for class so I jumped on it and rode all the way to west bank with the handle bars the wrong direction! Wow! How does someone do that? So those are my adventures of the bike so far...we'll see what happens in winter.
Gopher Womens Hockey Game for Cancer
So tomorrow Friday October,26 at 6pm at Ridder Arena there will be a women's hockey game against Duluth...the Gopher's biggest rival! This is an important game because it is also a game to battle cancer. The women's hockey team has been directly affected by this terrible disease. Their former equipment manager...Bonnie has colon cancer and it spread to her liver a few years ago. She went through chemo a few times, but it has returned. They received news a couple days ago that Bonnie will not be with us much longer. Many of the seniors on the team had a strong relationship with Bonnie and the rest of the team knows her well. I am asking all of you to spare a few hours this Friday and come watch a gopher game. They only last about 2 hours so you will probably be out of there by 8pm. Donate to the cancer foundation so maybe SOMEDAY there will be a cure for it, and you will not have to watch your loved ones die.

New Pets
Last weekend my neighbors across the hall got a small little gerbil and it was super cute. I talked to my roommate and we decided to go off to the pet store to see what they had. We wanted something a little bigger so we decided to get a guinea pig! It is white and orange so we named it Butterscotch after a long list or weird names. Names like snack pack, lemon, tapioca, and so forth were brought up. We brought it home and surprised our third roomy who was not as excited as us. We made her hold it and she instantly fell in love with it. Then the girl across the hall who had also just bought the gerbil with her other roommate got a phone call from her mom saying that they had to put her dog down at home. She was super upset so she "replaced" her dog with a new guinea pig that she bought on Sunday. So we now have 1 gerbil and 2 guinea pigs running around. Its a zoo, but so are our lives so why not just add to it!
Problems saying no
So basically every week my boss will call me up and ask me to pick up a shift or two because someone called in sick or just didn't show up. Now I really don't mind doing it because its more money and all, but it gets a little old after about 3 months. My roommate works at the same place I do and she is constantly covering for other people and is sick of it as well. Like I don't want to leave my boss hanging because shes an awesome lady, but seriously fire these people who are not showing up for work or have them find someone to work for them. It's really not that difficult.

Wow Packers
So if Sunday was not already a crazy day for me...hearing about the Crandon shootings and all, the Packers decided to suck it up at Lambeau. We lost the game because we had 3 fumbles! Seriously guys...its the Bears. How do we lose to the Bears? Well to make this story even better I was watching the game with all my friends and on the last pass by Favre to the end zone my TV goes out due to the storm. So we don't know if it was a touchdown and we tied or what the hell had happened. So I'm calling everyone I know from Green Bay and waiting for someone to answer and tell me what had happened. Well they didn't score a touchdown...and lost the game to the stupid Bears. AWESOME! Well at least we beat the Vikings! Woo hoo!

The little town of Crandon and its massive disaster
Crandon, Wisconsin is located about 2 hours away from Green Bay. I don't know if you all heard about what happened up there, but here it is briefly:
Tyler Peterson a deputy Sheriff from Crandon, age 20, went on a shooting rampage in his ex girlfriends house. He killed 5 people ages 14-20, he shot at another and he is in critical condition. Peterson then fled the scene and was not killed until Sunday afternoon by a sniper. Now the town of Crandon is a very small town and everyone knows everyone so this is really hitting everyone hard. I for one have been going up to Crandon for 5 years now because that is where my best friends cottage is located. For the past 5 years I've gotten to know a lot of the kids around that area so when I heard about this I freaked. I have so many friends up there and I hoped and prayed to God that none of them were involved in this. None of my close friends thankfully were involved, but 2 of the kids we did know happened to be there. One is now dead and the other is in critical condition in the hospital.
What would make someone snap so bad that they would go and kill 5 people? Especially a deputy Sheriff. And who is the right mind would hire a 20 year old to be a deputy sheriff? Granted it is a small town and all, but don't you need some kind of experience before you can handle a job like that?
Now seriously these kids that died were in high school and a few had recently graduated. The 14 year old just started high school. She wasn't even beginning a real life yet and neither were the other kids. We haven't even begun to have our own life. We are basically doing all the pre recs for it. They will never get the chance to graduate college, have a family, or even make their mark on the world. They will never get the chance to do any of the things me and you are doing today. This just makes you realize that you really do have to live everyday to the fullest because you never know when you'll be taken from this world. So make too many friends, stay up wayyyy to late on a school night, love so hard it hurts, see the world, and just live your life the way you want to. Because you only get once chance at life, so do what you must to make it the best one ever!

Seasons
Summer is almost officially over and fall is just beginning. So why, why why are people wearing boots and winter coats? What on earth are you going to do when the snow actually hits the ground? You go to school in Minnesota!! It's not warm here all year round! I can't help but laugh when I see these people walking to classes all bundled and I'm in a t-shirt and jeans perfectly fine. Granted I have grown up in a cold climate all my life so I guess I am just used to it. It's just funny when the snow finally hits and you see people in full snow suits and ski masks walking around campus. I saw this guy last year wearing all that stuff and I seriously started to laugh because that's a little extreme. But really people its only gotten down to like 55 degrees and I've seen people in their winter gear...really?! Then on the other hand there are those crazy people that wear tank tops and shorts when its below 50 degrees, thankfully I am not one of those people. I guess we all have our own inner heating system, mine just must be adjusted to this type of weather since I come from the land of the frozen tundra aka the home of the Packers!
Rude Professors
In my physics class we got our group problems back that were a part of our quiz grade. Well my group got a 0 which i thought was ridiculous because we had a lot of work on the paper with equations and everything. So I decided to go and talk to my professor about it in his office hours after class. I walk in and explain my situation to him and he looks and me and my lab partner and says "You guys have no idea what you are doing." Well...OK I say, what did we do wrong? He tells us then to go stand in the hall while he deals with everyone elses questions before ours. So that's when I started to get a little ticked off. He then proceeds to tell the whole group of us to go in this small room with a white board. A bunch of people had questions on the problems in the book that are due today so we went through those first. That was fine since I didn't know how to do them anyways. So he asks me and my lab partner if we understand how to do this. I simply said no I don't know how to do these because they were extremely hard questions. He then decides it would be a great idea to send me to the board to do the problem. Now this is all fine if someone talks me through what to do. So I draw the problem out and then I turned around to the teacher and the other 8 people in the room and said OK now this is where I have problems. So he starts asking me all these things in the hardest possible way and I'm standing up there in front of all these people not knowing what he is talking about and seriously looking stupid. I hate it when teachers did this to me in middle school and I sure did not appreciate it yesterday in front of my college classmates. At this point my face is turning red and I am incredibly embarrassed almost to the point of tears that I said "Well I have no idea how to do this and you are not explaining this to me in terms I understand so someone else can come to the front of the room and figure this out." I then sat down and he tells my lab partner to go up there and finish it. Now my lab partner has a hard time with this stuff as well and there are 7 other people in the room who have this problem finished. So needless to say he embarrasses the hell out of her too and we are both pretty pissed off. Anyways the best part of this story is that I had to leave to get to work on time so I said thank you for his help and on my way out the door he says in front of everyone, "I'll be seeing you again real soon, huh?" Thank you jerk!! I really needed that! Wow I thought office hours were for helping students and not for embarrassing them beyond belief!
